About Main Street Plymouth, Inc.
Main Street Plymouth is a nonprofit organization which operates as a public/private partnership. A 'Main Street' organization is not unique to Plymouth; there are 19 other Main Street communities in New Hampshire and 1600 nationwide. 2008 marks our 10th anniversary!
Following the model developed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Main Street follows a four point approach. Working with other organizations and businesses, we focus on these four areas of operation:
- Promotion - Create events and public relations materials that increase awareness and attract people to the downtown area.
- Design - Participate in, and in some instances organize, community efforts to keep our downtown area clean and beautiful.
- Economic Restructuring - Work with individuals and businesses to help minimize vacant storefronts and attract businesses that are needed and are likely to succeed in downtown Plymouth.
- Organization - Ensure that Main Street has the resources and volunteers necessary to meet its objectives.
